Cycle2serve – Cycle for a Cause

Not just another day, but the birthday of the Father of Nation – Mahatma Gandhi, 2nd October 2011. The Oberoi Mall, Goregoan was abuzz with cycles. It was 7:30 a.m. and Cycle2Serve’11, cycling rally was all set to take off. More than 150 people participated in the event.

Cycle2Serve’11 was Tarang’s initiative. Tarang NGO in association with Standard Chartered Bank, KIPL, Poonam Couriers and Rashmi Foods were the official sponsor of the cycling rally. The purpose of the rally was to spread awareness and raise funds for the education of the underprivileged children of our society. With no frills and fanfare, the rally was flagged off and made rounds in the slowly waking up neighborhood of Goregoan.

Incidentally, it was also the beginning of the Joy of Giving Week. It was the sheer involvement of volunteers and participation of supporters of the cause that made the event a success. To highlight the cause of the rally, the event had a powerful message-centric skit, shouting slogans around the Goregoan alleyways, and speeches made by the organizers.

The rally gathered quite an attention, with passersby getting some hand outs and some locals inquiring about the purpose of the rally. The event wrapped up with the usual thanksgivings and distribution of certificates. The event was to support the NGO Tarang’s mission – to educate each and every child of the planet. It was a noble attempt and an impactful event organized to support the cause of education of our little ones especially the lesser privileged ones.
